Correcting the record: how profile updates work
Subjects and readers can request corrections. An outline of the intended process, what evidence is required, and how corrections are logged.

A directory that publishes information about identifiable people needs a working correction route, and it needs to be visible rather than buried. The planned process accepts requests from the subject of a profile, from an organisation named on it, and from readers who can point to a source.
A correction request is expected to identify the specific claim in dispute and, where the claim is factual, to name a source that contradicts it. Requests that dispute a factual claim without a counter-source are still logged: the affected claim is marked as verified while an editor checks the original sourcing.
Where a correction is made, the profile's last-reviewed date is updated and the change is recorded. Where a request is declined, the reason is communicated to the requester.
